John Anderton of Patent Forge graduated from Portland State University with a Bachelors of Science degree in mechanical engineering, and in 1996 he graduated from Oregon Graduate Institute (OGI) with a Masters in applied physics and a Ph.D. in metallurgy. John has eighteen years of experience in the electronics industry. For five years, he researched component reliability as an engineer and manager at Intel Corporation. He returned to graduate school after his tenure at Intel. At OGI, John developed automated control systems and a non-contact measurement system to locate defects during electroslag welding on submarine propulsion shafts for the U.S. Navy. While pursuing his graduate degrees, he worked with Sequent Computers developing component selection tools and quality tracking. After graduate school, John worked with a startup company developing a non-contact silicon voltage measurement system, as well as performing nondestructive testing including X-ray and Auger analysis. For six years John developed reliability tracking and manufacturing quality tools at Sun Microsystems. John worked with the law firm of Kolisch Hartwell for three years prosecuting patents, trademarks and copyrights. While at Kolisch Hartwell, John published an article in the Journal of Intellectual Property and Legal Practice on Reexamination Success Predictors. John is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. When not in the office, John enjoys walking his dogs, flying, running, and bicycling.
